The Kitchen Musical

This looks interesting!!! Music x Food!

So here's the story according to the show's Facebook page:
The Kitchen Musical is set in the musical world of a famous restaurant and anchored around the storyline of a rich young girl’s journey of self-discovery when she starts working in the kitchen of the restaurant, straight out of Le Cordon Bleu, Paris.
It stars Karylle, Christian Bautista, Stephen Rahman Hughes and a lot of new and veteran singers from the region. The show will air in October 2011 on nTV7 (Malaysia), Studio 23 (Philippines), Metro TV (Indonesia) and AXN (19 Asian Countries).

And who is that Daniel guy? Cute!

The 20s

So I just finished the 4th book and about to start with the 5th.
I didn't have to buy any of them as Marylin lent them all to me (and the rest of our friends). And no, I'm NOT going to write a review but I would tell you to read them and enjoy them especially if you need to be distracted from your own life and focus your attention on other people's lives. The fact that they are fictional is a bonus. Haha! It's funny that even if the characters in each of these books are older and far more experienced than any of us (everyone to whom Marylin lent the books) we caught ourselves a number of times laughing because they reminded us of each other in some sort of way.

I also find it quite amazing too that I enjoyed the books despite that they are mostly about issues way beyond me: engagements, marriages, affairs and freakin' babies! I was thinking that maybe if I read the books 2-3 years ago, I might not have appreciated them as much as I do now. This is coupled with the realization that I am indeed getting old, nearing the mid-20s. To which I can only say: OH SH*T.

On the plus side, the books increased my excitement about New York.

Ah, New York. Someday...

Friday, Friday!

Sybil, Marylin and I met up after work yesterday. Marylin wanted to go to Naru so we met up at Osborne, walked around, did some shopping then had sushi. I missed Naru! It's one of my favorite places to eat here in the city. It is pricier than other sushi places but definitely worth it.

Soft Kani! I looove soft shell crab! We are still wondering what the black thing is.
We ordered special rolls again.
Naru roll
Grilled Scampi roll (?)
Potato strings roll (?)

And then afterwards, we went to BDI! Lots of people as usual but we didn't have to wait too long for our turn.

Yes

I always said I'd be happier alone. I have my work, my friends, but someone in your life all the time? More trouble than it's worth.

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't cause I thought I'd be happy alone; it was because if I thought that I loved someone and then I fell I apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone. Because what if you learn that you need love and then you don't have it? What if you like it, and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can anyone survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage: it's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This, it could go on forever.

13th

Friday the 13th, I burned two batches of chocolate crinkles. Haha! Our house was filled with smoke! I put the rack too low in the oven and did not realize it can make SUCH a difference in cooking time! Oh well. I learned with my mistake. The rest was OK but I have yet to find a Chocolate Crinkle recipe that is chocolatey and fudgey...

Ease Up

P5090804
Oh yes. I wear glasses again!

I have not gone out for more than a week already. I go home after work, take pictures and watch movies/tv shows. I've been sick too for the past few days so all I did was relax here at home. And if you know me, you know that that's a big change! From someone who is used to spending more than half a day outside the house, this is SOMETHING. I'm not anxious (at least not recently) about just staying at home. I'm okay. There were days that I would even prefer to just stay at home: wavy hair, no make-up with pajamas on. I'm easing up on the idea of a "chill" day. The only problem though is that sometimes I run out of things to do. Haha! But I do like this. I have learned to appreciate the breaks, the simple days where you just don't have anything to do and you have time to spend.

Red Velvet Cupcakes II

Finally had time to bake Red Velvet cupcakes again! I used a new recipe for this batch 'cause I thought I lost the first one.

Red Batter
Pretty red color!
The color came out nice! Unlike the first few times, I made Red Velvet cupcakes, the red came out really bright for this batch. It's too pretty!

Look how red it is!
I also got to use the icing kit Mama bought me. I still need practice using this.

Just trying out different designs
Just one dollop!
Crowning glory!
