Bye, Amy!

Oh man. Affected ako. It's such a waste of talent! She's one of those people who you would want to shake and slap if you can so that she'll wake up and get her act straight 'cause you know she's something else.

Rest in peace, Ms. Winehouse!

Break from the Heatwave

As you all know, much of North America is experiencing a heatwave. For the past few weeks, it has been really, really humid here in the city.  It's the kind of weather that makes you just want to stay indoors neverminding that summer is only 2 months long. I hate hot weather. No, I abhor it. I just can't function with it. I know, I know. I lived in a tropical country for years so I must be used to this. But the truth is I'm not. I'm just not physically cut out for warm weather which is nothing short of a tragedy especially when you're Asian and born near the equator. My childhood has a lot of memories of sneezing every freaking morning; innumerable emergencies due to nausea and dizziness; and eternal bitchiness and bad temper. Hey, I'm not kidding about the last one. I'm not making an excuse for bad behaviour, okay? Hot weather makes me hot headed. I don't have to explain further. I'm sounding defensive so I should stop. Hahaha. By the way, I just need to say that searching for something to cool me down sucks because I have a cough that won't go away. Hate!

Anyway, I was reading reports about the heat wave and experts said that yesterday would be one of the hotter days. However, the forecast was wrong much to my (and everyone's?) delight! Mother Nature decided that it would be nice to have a cool, windy day here in the city. Ah it's a much needed break!

We were supposed to watch Friends with Benefits yesterday but it was sold out. Honestly, who would think it will with Transformers 3, Captain America and Harry Potter still in theatres? But it did so we decided to take advantage of the wind and... FLY A KITE. Yep. On a parking lot. Adam has a kite (and, utterly irrelevant to my story but worth mentioning, a fake sword) in his trunk so we gave it a go. We got some people looking curiously at us. Haha funny!

You can't see it here but it's actually a Spongebob kite from Walmart.

Today it's supposed to rain but I just looked outside and the sky is clear so I guess no rain? Ah whatever! I better go ahead and start this day.

Odd Balls

Do you remember this? Because I have forgotten about this food establishment until I read it on Patty Laurel's tweet.

I remember, there would be an Odd Balls kiosk/cart/stall in (almost) every mall and we would always buy. My mom never allowed us to buy fish balls, squid balls, etc. from street vendors so this was the alternative. My siblings and I loved this so much! Ang loser naman kasi kung di ka pa talaga nakatikim ng "street food" ever. This is better than nothing kahit technically hindi na sya "street food". Hahaha! Pero kahit walang authenticity at pagka-astig ng totoong street food, I'm sure everyone who has tried Odd Balls would agree that it's really good!

Squid balls and their amazing sweet sauce! Favorite! I miss this talaga! Funny that they still serve using styrofoam cups and toothpick. Haha! Lalo tuloy nostalgic!

Dahil reminiscing na rin naman, itotodo ko na!

I'm sure hindi lang ako ang nakakamiss dito! I remember, I used to be so addicted to Sour Cream. And I just found out, they opened 6 branches of Potato Corner in the US! Seriously, Canada has to have one!

O sige last one na!

Ice Monster!!! I used to go to the SLEX Shell station after school to freshen up. Travelling from QC to Laguna everyday is no joke so kailangan ng break and the break is usually through Ice Monster. Imagine nyo naman ang Manila weather with all it's dust and smoke. Something refreshing is required for survival! Haha!

Oh why did I even try to write a blog entry about these at this time? It is true. One misses the little things more!

Everything Red Velvet II: Red Velvet Brownies

I like chewy brownies. Also, I like brownies that are not very sweet.

Both of these I got from this Red Velvet Brownie recipe! Yey!

I decided to just bake them in muffin pans 'cause it's just easier. I had to adjust baking time though and cut it down from 30 to 18 minutes.

I decided not to make the frosting 'cause everyone would rather have the brownies without it anyway. My family does not like anything very sweet too.

Red, red, red!

And my world stopped!

My sister told me to check out Jenni Epperson's blog to read her latest post.

And there I saw this...
Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandoulière = basically the Speedy + a shoulder strap.

OMG!

Why I love this? It's because I only use bags with shoulder straps whenever I need to carry one for long periods. So no totes, hand bags, clutches especially if I'm walking around. Blame my back problem.

Ahhh! Lovely, right? Free hands!

The bag comes in 4 sizes 25, 30, 35 and 40.
Price list in USD:

Monogram Speedy Bandouli̬re 25 Р$1065
Monogram Speedy Bandouli̬re 30 Р$1090
Monogram Speedy Bandouli̬re 35 Р$1115
Monogram Speedy Bandouli̬re 40 Р$1140

Can someone buy me one? Haha!

Everything Red Velvet I: Red Velvet Pancakes

My friends and I are obsessed with anything and everything Red Velvet. I don't even recall when this craziness actually started but I can tell you that we are so far from getting over it.

I made Red Velvet cupcakes once, twice before but I decided to push this further by making other red velvet lovelies.

Red Velvet Pancakes!

I hate the pictures I took! They don't give justice to the pancakes! Haha! Anyway, I decided to make these over the weekend so I can serve it for breakfast. So yeah, I woke up early and sacrificed. And I'm gonna tell you, it was worth it!

Some ingredients

See how red it is?

Tada! I love how these turned out. I really thought it would just be a red pancake but it does actually taste like Red Velvet! You can even skip the syrup because it's good on its own. Will definitely make this again! Hopefully I can find a heart-shaped pancake ring for next time.

Watch out for the next Everything Red Velvet entry!

"This Made Me Smile" of the Day

You know how much I LOVE him! He's not as gwapo as Piolo, heck he doesn't even have abs but JLC rules them all with his charm!

How many times I've watched this commercial today? I can't tell you!

I love how he doesn't take himself too seriously. Ah so charming!!!

But fine. Not everyone is into JLC. But if he wasn't able to make you smile, I hope this video would!

Wouldn't you want to wake up to this smile?

Origami Magic Rose

I was bored and my right shoulder is throbbing with pain due to watching TV without any back support Tuesday night and carrying two juice boxes yesterday.

I tried making hearts multiple times and I failed each time. My trash bin at work is full of broken hearts. Haha! So here at home, I attempted a rose.

I think I need real origami paper. Haha!

I've been looking at crafts today! It's exciting! I want to make other (preferably useful) things! Ah hopefully soon!

Question

“Imagine a future moment in your life where all your dreams come true. You know it’s the greatest moment of your life and you get to experience it with one person. Who’s standing next to you?”

Mind boggling! LOL

CDLW 2

Canada Day Long Weekend 2

Barbecue at home because my parents are not the lets-go-to-the-park type! Smokies, tofu and pork skewers!

Seriously, the best corn everrrr!

Add butter and salt pa!

Flowers cut straight from our plant. Pretty!

CDLW 1

Canada Day Long Weekend 1with Keith and Adam

First stop: Osborne Village

Lots of interesting things and people as always!  People watching was quite enjoyable! Hehe

Second stop: Assiniboine Park

We had lots of time to kill so we decided to go and visit the zoo. It was a bit disappointing 'cause there are lots of empty spaces. There were a lot of "coming soon" signs but I'm not sure when they are going to fill them up.

I like Zebra stripes. I didn't know there are different kinds though. To me they look the same.

Peacock courtship. There was a Llama here but it moved away when the courtship started. Haha may concept sya ng "awkwardness".

Weird humps... Fergie will not approve!

Mr. and Ms. Lion. They look majestic just laying there at the top without a care.

May flamingo prayer meeting!

We agreed that park celebrations are more family oriented therefore we don't fit in here. LOL

It got windy so we decided to grab something to drink from Tim's and just watched the fireworks from outside the park so we can also avoid the traffic.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Moleskine x Little Prince

The best paper and the best story ever! I just have to have one!

Just like what I said on Twitter: I like staring at my new notebook's blank pages!!! Glorious, smooth, unruled paper! I love!

The cover has a debossed image of the Little Prince.

See how they deboss images on each notebook! Labour of love ito!

Day Off

Day off ng mga alipin! Hahaha!

I had Tuesday day off because of an appointment. Good thing it was sunny! It has been a while since I last enjoyed the morning sunshine. I love the feeling of going somewhere this early!

Hello, Dafoe! I missed this place! I even went to my favorite spot on the second floor!

Met up with Marylin coz she's off early and went to Cora's for lunch. I've never been there before but I heard good reviews. The place is quite homey.

Had Ham and Cheese Crepomellete. That's crepe + omelette. All of these for just $11! I LOVE breakfast. I can have breakfast food any time of the day.

And yes, that's Hollandaise sauce on my crepomellete! Yummmmmy!

Then after lunch we went to McNally! Cute Pooh decor! I used to be obsessed with him. There was a point in my pre-teen life when I have everything Pooh related. Now the only thing I have that is Pooh is a pair of socks.

Temptation galore! I was thinking of buying a camera pero wala sa budget! See? I'm mature enough na! I can control myself when shopping. Hahaha!

After McNally, we met up with Patrick and just chilled at Supreme. Lots of kwentuhan again! Saya!
