The Evidence that Showbiz and Politics Shouldn't Mix

This is the reason why Showbiz and Politics shouldn't mix. I only selected the "points" he made. You can read the whole article here. This is one Showbiz columnist's reaction to Leo Martinez' statement about

KWENTONG SHOWBIZ Ni Ernie Pecho

The article started with a short histroy lesson about Rogelio dela Rosa and how he should have been president, which, in my opinion, is unnecessary.

What the...?! This statement is followed by suggestions on how Gomez could win the elections. He also stated how Gomez' resources can cover the campaign expenses.

"Isang self-made man si Richard Gomez. Nagtagumpay siya sa kanyang
sariling pagsisikap.

So, his knowledge doesn't matter now? Just because he is loved by the masses, it means he is fully capable of being a lawmaker?

"Maraming mga artista na naging elected officials. Karamihan sa kanila ay naging mabuti at mahusay na lingkod-bayan tulad nina Vilma Santos, Bong Revilla, Rico Puno, Ishko Moreno, Rey Malonzo, Lou Veloso, Tito Sotto, ER Ejercito, Chiquito, Joey Marquez, Anjo Yllana, Jestoni Alarcon, Herbert Bautista at Aiko Melendez."

Research! Of all the people stated above, only Vilma Santos did an excellent job. The rest, never mind. Where are the evidences that these people did SOMETHING significant while they're in office?

Good luck sa intong lahat."

Really great.

Vilma is a mayor. She started out in her hometown and did great. But this isn't enough to say that these people from showbiz can do a great job in serving the people. This applies especially to those who have not experienced governing even a small baranggay but goes out and run for the Senate.

The really shallow view of this columnist reflects why we have a government like ours. We elect people who are not capable. We just don't learn from our mistakes.
